Building My immersive experience
Creating my immersive experience was a mix of challenges. I had to carefully combine visuals, sounds, and storytelling to make the project cohesive and engaging
I started by brainstorming and coming up with ideas for the immersive experience. I had this idea for a story about a girl with schizophrenia, inspired by the thought-provoking themes found in shows like "Black Mirror" and Six Feet Under (2005)as well as films like A Beautiful Mind (2001) and Black Swan (2010) I've always been fascinated by the way mental health and immersive storytelling intersect. It's something that has truly inspired me and sparked my desire to delve deeper into this field.

I started by creating a script that provided a clear outline of the story, characters, and important scenes. This script was crucial for the project, making sure that all the visual and auditory elements matched the narrative. I put a lot of effort into writing the script, taking my time, desperately trying to make it engaging and emotionally impactful. I took the feedback to heart and made some changes to the script. I wanted to give each scene more depth and better pacing, so I made sure to allow them to develop naturally.

I made a few videos to give the story a more vivid portrayal, showcasing the visual aspects of each scene. These videos really helped me see and understand the immersive experience

:I added in Scene Descriptions  Providing a clear picture of each scene, including the setting, characters, and important actions. This really helped visualise how the story would unfold.
I included videos that show the protagonist's delusions in detail. I used strange and disturbing images to express the depth of her experiences.

Environmental Effects: I added smoke, changes in temperature, and variations in lighting. These elements were created to make the experience more engaging and immersive.
I used After Effects to make a hologram video, giving it an otherworldly vibe. The hologram played a crucial role in the protagonist's delusions, showing her fractured reality in a visual way. In addition, I used a dark and eerie colour grading in the videos, which was influenced by the movies I documented in my journalling. The choice of colours in this palette really enhanced the overall atmosphere and made the experience more engaging.

The experience was created to encourage active participation and captivate the audience. I incorporated practical effects like:

Smoke: used to evoke a feeling of intrigue and discomfort.
Temperature Changes: to create an immersive experience for the audience, allowing them to feel the temperature of the protagonist's surroundings.
Soundscapes: selected sound effects and music to heighten the emotional impact and authenticity of the scenes.
After creating the videos, I merged them with the script to create a smooth and coherent storyline. The script served as a helpful companion, leading the audience through the film and providing explanations for the importance of each scene. The combination of visual and narrative elements makes it easier for the audience to fully engage with and understand the story.

During the development process, I made sure to gather input from my peers and tutors. They provided extremely helpful insights, identifying sections of the story that seemed hurried and suggesting ways to enhance the visual elements. Based on the feedback, I decided to adjust the pacing in certain sections of the script and include more descriptive details in the visuals.

As part of my development stage, I created a series of videos that were showcased during Phase 3. These videos showed the potential of the immersive experience, giving a glimpse of how each scene would look and feel. The final presentation effectively captured the dark and engaging narrative I had in mind, even though it was a challenge to condense the story for the immersive experience

Developing this immersive experience involved a series of steps, including drafting, receiving feedback, and making improvements. I wanted to create an experience that was visually and emotionally compelling, reflecting the dark themes and atmospheric tones that inspired it. I achieved this by using detailed visual representations, a carefully crafted script, and engaging technical elements. This project was a great opportunity for me to enhance my storytelling and technical skills. It also helped me gain a better understanding of how to create narratives that truly engage and connect with the audience.
