Getting feedback from my peers was really helpful in improving my final project. Although it was a bit overwhelming and frustrating at first, I eventually saw significant improvements in both the structure and content of my work.
People mentioned that they felt my story was hurried and could benefit from more attention to the main parts. Many of my peers shared the same observation, expressing that the narrative felt rushed and lacked a natural development, which ultimately affected its emotional impact. So, I decided to take a moment and go over the flow of my story again. I noticed certain parts of the story that could benefit from more attention and explanation, so that the plot can flow smoothly and the characters can have a stronger impact on the audience.
I included additional scenes to give more background and context to the protagonist's journey, making sure that each plot point was well-developed. This helped to create a storyline that was more cohesive and engaging, while also allowing for a deeper emotional connection that could effectively draw viewers in.
One major criticism I received was that my writing needed more descriptive details. This feedback suggested that the lack of vivid descriptions made it challenging for readers to fully engage with the story. Some of my friends recommended that I add more detailed descriptions to help readers visualise the settings, characters, and emotions in my writing. This was similar feedback to that received in the previous module where my descriptions were vague and not captivating enough.
I took this advice seriously and carefully went through my script, making sure to include detailed descriptions whenever I could. For example, rather than just saying ‘fragrance fills the room’ I provided details about the specific scents, the flickering fluorescent lights, and the overall feeling of chaos in the experience. Providing these extra details really enhanced the overall experience.
Some of my friends mentioned that they had trouble reading the text in the video because it showed up too fast. They recommended taking it easy on these parts so that viewers have enough time to understand the information. I had to make some changes to the video by re-editing it in order to adjust the timing of the text overlays. I made sure that every text section was displayed for a suitable amount of time, so that viewers could read it comfortably. This helped to enhance the accessibility and clarity of the project. The only issue I had now was that this significantly lengthened my video.
One of thecomments I received was about the practicality of some of my speculative designs, like the investigation board. It was quite challenging to address this I realised that I hadn't fully considered the user experience aspects of these elements when my peers questioned how someone would interact with it.
I took another look at my designs, keeping practicality and user interaction in mind. I included annotations and explanations to illustrate how each component would work in a practical context. I created a mock-up for the investigation board, demonstrating how users can interact with it. The mock-up includes touchpoints, interactive elements, and potential user scenarios. Adding more details to my designs helped to make them easier to understand and more relatable.

At first, I found it frustrating to receive a lot of feedback, especially after spending a lot of time and effort on my video. But then I quickly understood how valuable this feedback was in improving the quality of my project. The feedback I received helped me reflect on my work and aim for a better level of storytelling and design.
I also dedicated some time to studying storytelling techniques from my favourite films and series, analysing how they crafted their plots and characters. I gained a better understanding of the significance of pacing, character development, and emotional arcs through this research. Applying these insights to my project helped me create a story that was more captivating and interesting.
I found it reassuring when my friends mentioned that they too received a lot of feedback from their tutors and felt overwhelmed. Realising that others felt the same way made me feel connected and supported. We talked about our difficulties and talked about ways to handle the feedback and make the needed changes.
I found this peer support network to be extremely helpful during the revision process. We had a great conversation, giving each other feedback and support to keep moving forward. I really appreciated how this collaborative environment kept me motivated and focused, especially when the workload seemed like a lot to handle.
Even with all the changes and improvements, I sometimes wondered if I had given this project enough effort. I sometimes had moments where I questioned if I was going the right way. Thinking about the feedback and the progress I had made really boosted my confidence in my work.
I came to understand that going back and forth with feedback, making changes, and getting more input was really important in creating a solid final project. With every round of feedback, I made progress towards creating a well-rounded and polished piece of work.
