After finalising the concept, I shifted my focus to storyboarding and scriptwriting. I visualised each scene in detail, mapping out the visual and story progression of the immersive experience. Writing the script allowed me to explain the dialogue, action, and interactive elements, bringing the story to life on paper.
Title : Prism of Perception
Scene 1: Introduction
I will set the stage with an eerie and mysterious atmosphere.Introduce the protagonist, Lily, a talented artist grappling with schizophrenia.Lily's hallucinations begin subtly, with faint whispers and distorted perceptions of reality creeping into her art.
The film begins with a peaceful morning at Lily's home, a humble, slightly weathered house adorned with the remnants of her mother's history and Lily's unrealised aspirations. The atmosphere is filled with an unsettling calmness, a feeling that there is something hidden just out of sight. Lily, a young woman in her late twenties with a passion for art, sits at the kitchen table, engrossed in her notebook, capturing her creative inspirations. Her drawings are complex and stunning, yet there's a subtle darkness within them—a mirror of the inner turmoil she experiences.

Lily's mother, a strict and controlling woman, goes about the kitchen getting lunch ready. She has a strong sense of protectiveness towards Lily, but sometimes it can come across as suffocating and overly controlling. As she places a plate of food in front of Lily, she casually mentions Lily's artwork, but her tone lacks enthusiasm, subtly downplaying Lily's aspirations to study art at college.

Lily, visibly nervous, attempts to gather the bravery to talk about her aspirations of attending art school, but struggles to find her voice. She longs to break free from the confines of this house and chase after her true passion, yet her mental well-being poses a significant obstacle. Her life has been plagued by worsening hallucinations, intruding at the most inconvenient times and causing disruptions to her focus and functionality.

As Lily enjoys her lunch, the camera subtly suggests that something might be wrong. The scene undergoes a subtle shift—the colours in the room appear to blur and distort, if only for a brief moment, while a faint whisper lingers in the background. Lily looks around, attempting to dispel the feeling, but the unease persists.

Her mother keeps a close watch on her, with a peculiar expression in her eyes, before shifting her attention to tidying up the kitchen. Lily tries to ignore the thoughts and concentrates on her art, but unfortunately, the hallucinations start to invade her mind. She finds herself torn between the longing for liberation and the apprehension that her own thoughts are turning against her. The conflict between her aspirations and her declining mental condition is evident, making way forthe sombre path that awaits.

Scene 2: Art Studio
Lily works in her art studio, where her hallucinations intensify. She sees her paintings come to life, with colours swirling and blending in chaotic patterns. The voices in her head grow louder, critiquing and distorting her artistic vision as she struggles to maintain control.
Lily finds solace and expression in her art studio, a sanctuary she retreats to. However, even in this place, her mind fails her. She grabs her brush, but as she starts to paint, the colours on the canvas swirl and blend in unpredictable, frenzied patterns. Her brushstrokes, which were once so familiar, now feel unfamiliar, as if someone else is guiding her hand. The voices in her head become increasingly loud and clear, each one providing a critique that is both harsh and unyielding.

The paintings on her studio walls start to change and distort, appearing almost alive. The faces within them twist into eerie smiles,  mocking her art. Her reality continues to shatter as the whispers grow more persistent, distorting her artistic vision. She attempts to ignore them, striving to concentrate on her tasks, but the hallucinations grow stronger. The colours on the canvas blend together, forming unsettling scenes that appear to mirror the inner turmoil she experiences. Lily struggles to keep her composure as the voices persist, serving as a constant reminder of the encroaching madness that she dreads.
Scene 3: home
Lily, in her home, once a peaceful haven she once cherished has transformed into a source of fear. The familiar surroundings now seem to shift and warp in unsettling ways. The walls appear to be breathing, the furniture m,oves into unnatural shapes, and the shadows seem to be animated, moving towards her with a sense of malevolence. The visual distortions are intense and frightening, blurring the line between reality and the manifestations of her troubled mind.

Voices reverberate in her mind, their tone filled with urgency and menace, compelling her to forsake her art and succumb to the encroaching darkness. The hallucinations become increasingly intrusive, with distorted faces suddenly appearing in mirrors and windows, their eyes filled with a mix of desperation and judgement. Lily finds herself caught in a nightmarish situation, where her perception of reality is fracturing and she fights to maintain her sanity. However, amidst all the chaos, she is driven by an unexplainable desire to uncover the truth behind these visions and comprehend the origin of the madness that plagues her.

Scene 4: Uncovering the Drugs

One day, while exploring her mother's old bedroom, Lily makes a surprising discovery—a hidden stash of psychoactive drugs tucked away beneath the bed. She feels overwhelmed and frightened as she inspects the bottles, recognising the potency of the antipsychotics and sedatives. She is filled with questions: What was the reason behind concealing these drugs? What was the reason for her mother having them? She starts to wonder if there could be something beyond a mere mental illness behind her hallucinations. This discovery plants a seed of doubt in her mind, causing her to question everything she thought she knew.

Her mind is suddenly filled with a vivid vision of her father, who passed away years ago, interrupting her thoughts. His presence evokes a mix of comfort and unease; he appears fleetingly, his voice fragmented and distant, attempting to convey a crucial message to her. Lily is intrigued by these visions, feeling a strong intuition that her father is attempting to communicate with her. However, the message remains elusive, muddled by the turmoil within her thoughts. She becomes more and more fixated on these hallucinations, convinced that they hold the answer to understanding her situation.

Scene 5: Exploring the Mysterious Sounds

Lily is determined to uncover the truth, so she transforms her flat into a makeshift investigation board. The walls are adorned with newspaper clippings, photographs, and scribbled notes, all intricately connected by strings and pins, representing the complex web of her illness. She attempts to unravel the source of the voices in her mind, seeking order and meaning amidst the confusion. As she continues her investigation, she uncovers increasingly unsettling evidence that suggests her mother's possible involvement in something darke.

Her father's hallucinations are becoming increasingly frequent and vivid, with his voice becoming more coherent. He cautions her about the drugs, insinuating that they were used to exert control over her, to manipulate her thoughts. Lily becomes increasingly paranoid, convinced that her mother is secretly administering medications that are slowly driving her to madness. The puzzle pieces start to come together, but the truth remains elusive, hidden by the haze of her schizophrenia.

Scene 6 takes place in the Psychiatric Ward.

Lily's declining mental condition results in her being admitted to a psychiatric ward. At this point, the hallucinations become incredibly intense, completely engulfing her in a flood of distorted sensory experiences. Her mind is filled with the noise of voices, overwhelming her in a sound that she cannot escape. The walls of the ward transform into surreal landscapes, displaying fragmented visions of her past, her father, and her art.

Lily is faced with haunting visions that blur the boundaries between what is real and what is imagined. She now has a clearer understanding of her father's warnings, which have taken on a more urgent tone. He informs her that the drugs were present in the food her mother had prepared, revealing that her mother has been secretly poisoning her over an extended period of time. Lily's fragile psyche is shattered by a profound realisation, pushing her dangerously close to the brink of madness. However, even in this challenging situation, she discovers a glimmer of defiance, a strong commitment to face the truth, regardless of its terrifying nature.

Scene 7: The Confrontation

Lily is discharged from the psychiatric ward, but she has undergone significant changes. She realises that finding peace means confronting her mother, as her mind is a constant battlefield. As she arrives at her childhood home, the atmosphere becomes increasingly tense. Her mother awaits her with a smile that now appears rather ominous. The confrontation is bound to happen, a dramatic face-off between a daughter and her mother, where the truth will finally be revealed and lies will be exposed.

As Lily confronts her mother about her suspicions, the atmosphere becomes filled with tension. Despite her mother's initial denial, her calm facade begins to crumble as Lily persists, ultimately exposing the drugs she discovered. The confrontation quickly turns into a physical struggle, with the two women grappling with each other as long-held anger and fear bubble to the surface.

Lily's mother, upon discovering that her secret has been exposed, grows increasingly desperate and unstable. She relentlessly pursues Lily throughout the house, their conflict spreading from one room to another, mvoing to the stairs, and penetrating the dimly lit corridors of the rhouse. The walls appear to narrow, the shadows growing darker as the mother's anger overwhelms her. Lily, driven by a combination of fear and determination, relies on her understanding of the house to outsmart her relentless mother.

The chase reaches its peak in Lily's old bedroom, as she successfully locks herself inside, while her mother desperately pounds on the door, pleading for her to open it. Lily's hallucinations resurface amidst the current state of terror, yet surprisingly, they provide her with a newfound sense of clarity. Just in time lilly manages to call the police.

Scene 8: Resolution

Lily sets out on a journey of self-discovery and acceptance, using her art as a means of healing and personal growth. She understands that her power comes from her courage to confront her fears, to confront the darkness within her mind, and come out triumphant. The film ends with Lily standing in front of a fresh canvas, ready to bring forth something new. As the camera zooms out, we witness the transformation from a haunting past to a promising future, symbolised by the emergence of radiant light.
